My second village is pretty much a culture shock, but it more like my hometown than Z-town. It is a rural village and while I teach three classes here too; they are completely different. The first class includes children from 4-10 and the attention span is a bit shorter, but we are having fun incorporating lessons and games. The second class is teenagers who speak pretty good English and we are doing small assignments and games to practice our English. Yesterday we played a game where you must think of an English word with the the last letter of the previous word just said. (E.G. Chair; Rabbit; tomato; Ocean; etc.) We also grabbed partners and wrote sentences about the other person's shoes. (Where the shoe was made? How did they receive it? What new one would they like? etc.)
(Activities with Students)
I also have benefited from having my friend Ridge close by. We have been doing activities daily. This included climbing the foothills of the Alps and going to local lake when it was 100 the other day. The lake excursion included jumping off the old tire swing into the crystal blue water.
This weekend we are heading to Bratislava and then to a Goulash Party and back to Hungary on Sunday to see some historical sites.
And finally: I wanted to say a little bit more about my host family. The food has been great and I benefit from Tomy speaking pretty good English. We joke around a lot and watch Wresting -- he is a big fan of WWE - the Tour de France and play lots of Rummy. The family, especially Grandma, is understanding how much I love spicey food. (This resulted into me getting my own jalapeno paprika the other day.) (Yummy) I also spent part of today watching my host sister at her dance recital. You can bet that I was her biggest fan.
(Touring with Family and Ridge)
On another side note, I have been having weird dreams again. This includes me chilling out with Obama in D.C. before a big speech and stuff about law school.
